When I was growing up, we had a Bird of Paradise plant the garden below my bedroom window. Some nights, I used my window as a door to sneak out of the house. Had the plant been broken it would have been a sure sign of escape. As all good things must come to an end, my parents caught me– the punishment was not pleasant!
